Why I do this work
I started as a nursing assistant on a dementia floor at nineteen. One resident taught me that a good afternoon is still possible long after names are gone.
In our courtyard neighborhood we plan the day around old routines: the farm kid who wakes at five, the teacher who likes a stack of papers to sort.
