Families usually ask about cost on the second call, after they have worried about it for a month. Here are our real 2026 numbers, and how they compare with what you will see elsewhere in Dane County.

The monthly rate

Assisted living at Larkfield starts at $5,650 a month for a studio with care level 1. That covers the apartment, utilities, three meals, housekeeping, laundry, activities and help with medications. Most assisted living communities around Madison quote between $5,000 and $7,500.

Care levels

Care is priced in three levels, set by our nurse after a free assessment. Level 2 adds $750 a month, level 3 adds $1,500. You see the level and the price in writing before move-in, and it is reviewed every 90 days.

The one-time fee

We charge a $2,500 community fee at move-in. There is no buy-in and no entrance fee beyond that. Rates are held for your first 12 months.

What Medicare pays

Medicare does not pay rent, meals or personal care in any assisted living community. It does pay for doctor visits, therapy with a doctor’s order and hospice, the same as it would at home. Our therapy gym bills Medicare Part B directly.

What else can help

Long-term care insurance, VA Aid and Attendance and Wisconsin Family Care can all help with the care part of the bill. Mai Vang, our family support lead, explains each one in a separate guide.
